Tough Los Angeles cop Vincent Hanna takes on a gang of professional bank robbers led by the precise, enigmatic Patrick McLaren.

A interesting 'dry run' for Mann's later classic heat. The key characters are interesting and engaging, despite the low budget. Mann does very well in these circumstances by making sure there is an excellent story. He draws solid performances from Alex McArthur as MacLaren, and the late Scott Plank as the dedicated detective Hanna.

The story is well set out, with an excellent opening sequence. It builds well as we see Hanna work to hone in on the McLaren character. It also interesting to see how the protagonist and antagonist bond despite the fact they are opposite side of the law. Interesting and enjoyable story.
